Apple Starts iBeacon Location Aware Shopping Experience

Apple on Friday started the iBeacon technology, which can provide location aware shopping experience to users of the iOS 7 operating system. According to reports, the iBeacon technology allows the user of an iPhone to conduct location-aware shopping whenever they enter Apple stores. Tiny Bluetooth transmitters are hidden above shelves in the stores and under product displays, which give the user’s location to the Apple Store app.
The app then provides the user with continuous information about hardware that they are around at a specific location inside the store. Further, it also gives the user information about the store itself and the app.

Currently, the Cupertino-based company is using the iBeacons at Apple stores only, but it could very well be used in other retail outlets too. Reports say that the technology may be found in sports stores, retailers and museums even. The app though needs perfection it seems.

Some reports on the internet have said that users went around Apple Stores waiting to get notifications from the app, but got none. While the app always knows which store you’re in, the users didn’t get any iBeacon notifications.
