Take a NOTE 4 yourself

Samsung has been settling into a routine with its flagship releases -
MWC in February gets the Galaxy S announcement, and IFA in
September gets the Galaxy Note. Because of that, the assumption
has been that the Galaxy Note 4 would be announced at IFA, and
now it looks like the exact date will be September 3rd, just before
IFA officially begins. IFA 2014 is planned for September 5-10 in
Berlin, but The Korea Times is reporting that Samsung will be the
announcement date, and Samsung is planning to send out media
invites "soon".
While IFA has been the general time for the new Galaxy Note
announcement, word has it that Samsung is rushing the
announcement a bit to make sure it gets a good amount of time in
the media machine before Apple announces the new iPhone 6. Of
course, the announcement doesn't really give us a clue as to the
release window for the device. Last year, the Galaxy Note 3 was
announced September 4th, but not released until September 25th.
On the other hand, Apple announced the iPhone 5S on September
10th and released it September 20th. So, jumping the gun on the
announcement can only help so much when there's that big of a
gap in release.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be just as much of a
specs beast as always, featuring a 5.7-inch 2560x1440 (QHD)
display, an Exynos 5433/Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, a
16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and an
ultraviolet sensor . There have also been rumors of a flexible display
and all metal construction. That all sounds great, but as always with
Samsung devices, it is more about how heavy-handed Samsung's
software will be. It seems we'll find out in about 5 weeks.

Companies With Benefits

While paying for top talent is important, studies consistently
show that money isn't the only thing that makes people happy at
work.
The savviest companies today have figured out that offering
awesome perks can help them get, and keep, the very best
employees.
We've found 17 companies that understand the value of
rewarding their staff — and do it in some of the coolest ways
possible.
1) Epic Systems gives 5-year employees a monthlong vacation.
Healthcare tech company Epic Systems gives employees at least
one great reason to stick around — a monthlong paid vacation.
Even better: If employees choose to spend their sabbatical in a
country they've never visited, Epic will pay for most of the travel
costs for the employee and a friend.
Epic's expansive offices, on a farm outside of Madison,
Wisconsin, are another impressive perk. The campus features an
Indiana Jones-themed tunnel, a tree-house conference room, a
moat, and plenty of green space for outdoor activities.
2) Google has free food, a bowling alley, and bocce courts.
There's a reason Google has been ranked No. 1 on Fortune
magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" each of
the past three years. The company has incredible offices around
the world that offer, among other benefits, free food at gourmet,
on-site cafes.
Meanwhile, employees don't even have to leave work to partake
in a range of recreational activities — Google's Mountain View,
California, headquarters have a gym, a bowling alley, a game
room, and basketball courts.
For chores, there's also a barber shop, a massage parlour, and a
laundromat.
3) Cisco Systems has a gym that offers physical therapy and
acupuncture.
Cisco's LifeConnections Health Center is more than just a fitness
centre; it also offers primary care, physical therapy, acupuncture,
and even a pharmacy.
The company believes in supporting a healthy work-life balance,
and it provides employees with telecommuting technologies like
data and voice services to create a home office experience.
4) SC Johnson offers private concierge services to its
employees.
The cleaning products company S.C. Johnson helps employees
with their chores via access to a concierge service that does
everything from returning overdue library books to making sure
the dry cleaning gets picked up on time.
"To make the best products for your family, we need the best
people in our company family," the company's website says. The
company also offers childcare for parent employees, paternity
and maternity leave, and paid sabbaticals.
5) Southwest Airlines employees get free flights for themselves
as well as their family and friends.
Southwest Airlines employees get free flights when they fly with
their employer, and they can also give the hookup to friends and
family. Employees also receive discounts with a handful of other
airlines as well as at several hotels, theme parks, and rental car
companies.
When they're not travelling, workers can participate in events like
the annual chilli cookoff contest, and the Halloween party — when
Southwest turns its Dallas offices into the "Haunted
Headquarters."
6) General Mills employees can work from any space they choose
within the office.
General Mills is a firm believer in work-life balance, with all new
hires immediately receiving three weeks paid vacation.
General Mills also offers employees a great deal of flexibility, both
in terms of telecommuting and in working from its Minneapolis
headquarters. There, certain departments do not have assigned
seats, allowing employees to work from the part of the office in
which they are most comfortable.
7) Chesapeake Energy has an indoor rock-climbing wall.
Chesapeake Energy, one of the nation's biggest natural gas
producers, gives half-price SCUBA-diving classes to employees
and their families. And once they've learned how to swim with the
fishes, Chesapeake also helps its workers organize trips to exotic
locales like Cozumel, Mexico.
Those who don't have a desire to SCUBA dive can still enjoy the
company's on-site, 72,000-square-foot fitness center, which
includes an Olympic-size pool, a sand volleyball court, and a rock-
climbing wall.
8) JM Smucker Company sends a gift basket to every new
employee.
Employees get a real welcome when they join Smucker's. "New
hires get a gift basket sent to their homes; [other] employees
enjoy softball games and bowling nights," according to Fortune.
For employees who have the time, there's no excuse not to get a
second degree. The PB&J company reimburses employees 100
percent for tuition costs with no cap. Smuckers employees are
also offered free technical training in the event they'd like to learn
new workplace skills.
9) Yahoo employees get discounts to ski resorts and amusement
parks.
Yahoo offers perks to its employees both in and out of the office.
The Yahoo offices have on-site fitness centres with yoga, cardio-
kickboxing, Pilates, and golf classes. The offices are also
equipped with ergonomic support chairs and healthy snacks and
drinks on every floor.
Outside the office, Yahoo offers discounts to ski resorts and
California theme parks, and it hosts an annual Oktoberfest party.
The company will even throw a baby shower for employees who
become parents.

10) Quinn Emanuel gives lawyers $2,000 to work a week from
anywhere in the world.
The law firm Quinn Emanuel has some interesting perks for a
profession often associated with stodginess. Above the Law
reports that lawyers are given a $2,000 allowance to work for one
week from anywhere in the world, so long as they work their
normal hours.
The firm also has a casual dress policy to increase employee
creativity, and it evaluates prospective summer associates
(extremely well-paid interns) with parties on law-school
campuses instead of the typical job interview.
11) Boeing gives its employees 12 paid holidays and a winter
recess between Christmas and New Year's Day.
New employees won't feel alone at Boeing, which connects new
hires through what it calls the "REACH program," which sets
employees up with community service and social activities.
Best of all, the aerospace and defence company gives its workers
12 paid holidays and a winter recess between Christmas and New
Year's Day.
12) Mattel allows employees to take paid time off for their kids'
school field trips.
Mattel is devoted to the happiness and futures of employees'
children. That's why it offers a program that defrays the cost of
adopting a child and a policy that offers 16 hours of paid time off
for school-related absences like parent-teacher conferences or
field trips. And the children will love that their parents get
discounts on toys sold by Mattel.
In addition, the toy company has its own non-profit organization
— The Mattel Children's Foundation — that offers volunteer
opportunities to Mattel employees.
13) Microsoft has a very generous paid maternity and paternity
leave policy.
The Microsoft Corporation gives new parents maternity and
paternity leave, but what sets Microsoft apart from many other
companies is that the leave is paid, rather than unpaid.
Microsoft also provides a network of support systems, such as
mentoring programs and health care coverage for Applied
Behavioural Analysis therapy, which treats autism. Microsoft is
the first major corporation to offer this benefit.
14) The World Wildlife Fund lets workers take every other Friday
off.
The World Wildlife Fund is home to what it calls "Panda Fridays,"
the Washington Post reports, through which employees work a
little extra during the week to take every other Friday off.
In addition to giving workers a breather, shutting down the non-
profit's Washington D.C. office saves energy and reduces its
carbon footprint. The office is extremely well-designed, and of
course, environmentally friendly.
15) Oshkosh Corporation offers training classes so that
employees can get promoted quickly.
The truck and military vehicle manufacturer shows loyalty to its
employees through extensive training and advancement
opportunities. Trainings can be instructor-led, web-based, or
video-based, and the company also offers tuition reimbursement
for advanced degrees.
Oshkosh lists job opportunities specifically for internal
candidates, and hosts a Rotational Engineer Program that gives
engineers the ability to learn multiple skills in a variety of different
units.
16) 3M helps its employees lose weight, stop smoking, and
manage stress.
Known for scotch tape and office products, 3M also has a
reputation as an employer with fair benefits. The company offers
life insurance and retirement plans on top of the standard
medical, dental, and vision health — and it extends those benefits
to same-sex couples in domestic partnerships.
The family-oriented company offers childcare and eldercare
consulting services, a smoking cessation program, weight
management reimbursement, and stress management coaching.
17) TIAA-CREF employees can play up to six sports on site.
TIAA-CREF wants to make sure its employees are taken care of in
many ways. The financial company offers on-site medical
services, full-time childcare at any Bright Horizons daycare
centre, and company-funded retirement savings.
Employees can also take advantage of access to the
Toastmasters communication development program and TIAA-
CREF's Corporate Athletic Program, which allows employees to
play up to six sports on site.
The company is also committed to hiring veterans through its
membership with the 100,000 Jobs Mission.

15 Ways to use Google like a Pro.

You're probably not using Google to its full advantage. Although
everyone knows how to search for something, there are a few
quick tips that can help you get the exact results you're looking
for, faster.
Google offers a "Power Searching" class and we took it so you
don't have to. In the class, Dr Dan Russell, a research scientist at
Google guides you through different lessons. Use these examples
from his lessons to learn how to filter and focus your search
results to get the answers you want.
See 9 easy tips for finding exactly what you want on Google:
1. First, let's start with some basic search features that you can
use to get information you need really, really quickly.
* Type "movies" followed by a town or city to pull up a list of
movies that are showing locally.
* Google "capital of" followed by any city to get a bolded answer.
* If you search "weather" followed by a city or a zip code, youll
get the latest forecast.
* If you search a flight code — say Hawaiian Airlines 24 — youll
get instant flight information.
* Try searching "time in Singapore" or any other city.
* Make conversions simple by searching something like "300
yards in miles" or "212F in C."
2. As usual, you might be able to find an Easter egg or two.
3. Now for some ways to filter your results. Google has a set of
"operators" that you can add to your search to give it special
instructions.
4. You can search within specific websites by using the operator
"site: " For example, "site: timesofindia.indiatimes.com" will only
search through TOI's archives.
5. You can also narrow down results by searching top-level
domains like ".gov" for government sites, ".edu" for educational
sites, or country codes like ".in" for Indian sites.
6. The operator "filetype:" is also useful. For example, you could
narrow your results to only include PDFs.
7. Or if you're doing a research project and want to find data to
download and work with, you could try searching for
"filetype:csv" like in the example below (CSV stands for "comma
separated values").
8. If you want to search for a specific phrase, put all the words
together in quotes.
9. Say you're looking for results about something that has several
different synonyms. If you search for several phrases with "OR"
between them, Google will search for both options.
10. Google's search-by-image tool is also incredibly helpful. (Go
to images.google.com to try it)
11. For example, if you have a photo you like but don't know
where it was taken, you can image search it.
12. Or say you find something random and you have no idea
what it is. Take a picture (on a white background), upload it, and,
viola! Google figures it out for you.
13. Colour filtering in Google image search can be very helpful.
Once you search for something, you can find the colour filtering
options under 'Search Tools'.
14. That might not sound too useful right off the bat, but it can
add context and let you find images based on information that
might not be included in the text of the corresponding page.
15. Finally, if you're looking to do some cooking, you can filter
recipes on Google by the time it takes to make, calories, and what
ingredients you have.

India is the main ingredient of Apple's Pie

India has become a major ingredient in Apple's
secret sauce, and the scale may surprise many. It is estimated
that a third of the $171-billion company's engineering staff is
Indian, and that a large and increasing proportion of its enterprise
software, service and support work is done by Indian IT vendors.
Apple filed 1,750 H-1B applications during the 10-year period
2001 to 2010, but the number increased sharply to 2,800 during
2011-13. US-based HfS Research that compiled the data says the
majority of the H-1Bs would be Indians, indicating that the
iPhone and iPad maker's dependence on Indian engineers has
risen significantly in recent years.
"About one-third of Apple's engineering headcount consists of
Indians who are either on H-1B or on Green Card," said Pareekh
Jain, principal analyst at HfS Research.
HfS arrives at that conclusion looking at figures Apple disclosed
in 2012, when it said it had 47,000 people working directly for it in
the US, of which 7,700 were customer support operators, and
27,350 worked retail in Apple Stores, leaving about 12,000 as
engineers, designers, marketers and other white-collar tech
product workers.
HfS Research also finds that Apple works with at least five India-
based IT vendors — including four large firms and one small firm
— and the scope of the work they do has been rising.

Moto Nexus 6

Over the past few months we've seen much controversy about
whether there will be another Nexus smartphone . That's because
Google has been rumored to drop this program, and focus on
Android Silver , which will incorporate a few devices from more
manufacturers than one - but is only said to take shape early next
year.
Now a new rumor claims that there could in fact be another Nexus
phone, and it will launch in November.
Interestingly, Motorola is apparently going to be making it. Its
codename is Shamu, which fits with the sea creature theme that
Google has used so far to assign codenames to Nexus devices.
The fact that a product with that codename is in active development
has been confirmed, more or less, by the filing of a bug which
references it in Google's issue tracker. And Android Police also has
another source that talked about it, saying that it will be targeted at
US carriers, as well as some in other (yet unnamed) parts of the
world.
The Shamu has a 5.9-inch touchscreen, which would make it the
biggest Nexus phone ever - though phablets have been growing
sales at a very fast pace lately, so making one part of the Nexus
program would make sense. Perhaps the Nexus 5 will still be sold
alongside this new device (which may be called Nexus 6 when it
launches). If that happens, we can see a price drop happening for
the currently sold phone, so that it becomes even more competitive
in that regard.
The Shamu will also reportedly feature a fingerprint scanner. Where
that will be placed is still a mystery, however.
And unfortunately, aside from its screen size and the presence of
that sensor, nothing is known about the Shamu just yet. But if it will
in fact become the next Nexus smartphone, then we should start
hearing a lot more about it soon.
All of the above should not be taken for granted, though, for even if
at the moment Motorola does have a handset codenamed Shamu in
the works, it may not get launched at all, or it may not be a Nexus.
Hardware development plans change all the time.
If all of this does pan out, then the Nexus 6 may be unveiled by
Google alongside the rumored HTC Nexus tablet , to both go on sale
when Android L is finally released.

Bose sues Beats, claims noise canceling headphones violate patents

It’s not the first time Beats has been sued, either. A co-founder of
Beats recently sued the company, saying he was owed royalties.
His alleged concept? Take Beats’ headphones and tie them to
celebs for marketing purposed.
Beats also ran afoul of Mog , whom they snapped up to build their
music subscription services. Mog’s former CEO and founder
David Hyman filed suit for $20 million, claiming he was forced out
ahead of royalty payments coming due.
Patents held by Bose involved in the case read as a list of
everything that makes noise canceling tech possible. Dynamically
configurable ANR filter block topology, Digital high frequency phase
compensation, and Method and apparatus for minimizing latency in
digital signal processing systems all suggest Bose is owed a piece of
the pie.
Bose is seeking a sales ban internationally on Beats products.
The company said they’d also file a federal patent infringement
suit in Delaware. This is a developing story, but we’ll keep you up
to date as it unfolds.

New-breed companies pay big bucks for IT talent

A new breed of technology companies is paying
software engineers in India substantially more than traditional
ones.
Companies like DevFactory, Exponential and Informatica are
paying as much as Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh to talented freshers
and mid-level programmers, many times more than the Rs 3.5
lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh that large IT services companies pay.
DevFactory, the R&D arm of enterprise software firm Trilogy, is
paying a whopping Rs 24 lakh annually to freshers. It even offers
a Rs 1-lakh joining bonus, very unusual at entry levels.
DevFactory calls itself the world's first software factory — it
focuses on doing higher quality work with fewer, but highly
trained specialists. To quickly transform student recruits into tech
professionals, it bundles into the compensation package a Rs 1-
lakh bonus for the DevFactory University (DU), a training
programme conducted in Dubai.
Others offering such packages include US-based digital media
solutions firm Exponential, software development firm
Informatica, American Express, Rolls Royce and GE, according to
HackerEarth's Market Research. HackerEarth is an online coding
platform that tests the coding skill of programmers. DevFactory
ran a coding challenge on HackerEarth recently to recruit six
software development engineers.
Many product companies are fiercely competing with rivals and
startups to attract the best coding brains in the industry. "A great
developer is well worth his/her weight in gold. The theory
subscribed to here is that a great developer is 5x-10x better than
an average developer and that's the basic law of software
engineering talent," said Ravi Gururaj, chairman of the Nasscom
Product Council.
Debabrat Mishra, director in management consultancy firm Hay
Group India, said these companies look at problem-solving skills
and hire a team player besides looking at strong programming
skills.
HackerEarth research finds that a notch below, offering salaries in
the Rs 13 lakh to Rs 22 lakh range, are companies like InMobi,
Yantra, Target, Ebay, SAP Labs, Walmart Labs, and Directi.
These companies specifically look for strong algorithm
knowledge and experience in building scalable cutting-edge
software. Walmart Labs India, for instance, is hiring 350 people in
Bangalore to expand its team of data scientists and technologists
in supply chain and pricing technologies.
"These firms want strong programmers who can make sense of
large sets of data, work on multiple frameworks, and build
scalable applications using cloud-based architecture," said
Sachin Gupta, co-founder of HackerEarth.
HackerEarth finds that Indian startups Druva, Flipkart, Practo,
Freshdesk, global startups PassportParking and big names such
as VMware, Intuit and Intel offer fresher and mid-level salaries in
the Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh range for those with high-level
programming skills.

IT professionals may get double-digit hike this year

Riding on the back of better operational performance,
tech companies are likely to dole out higher wage increases for
employees in the current year. After an average 8-10% hikes last
year, the IT staff can expect a double-digit increase in
emoluments this year, industry body Nasscom said on
Wednesday.
The assessment, based on an internal survey of Nasscom
members, indicates that attrition levels and lateral hiring will also
increase.
India's $118 billion infotech industry — the largest private sector
employer in the country with more than 3.1 million on rolls — is
projected to grow 13-15% as against 13.2% last year.
"Industry average hikes will be slightly higher than last year,"
Sangeeta Gupta, VP research at Nasscom, said on the sidelines of
an HR summit in Chennai. She said effective middle managers will
get the best rewards through increased variable pay and
incentives.
Middle management techies will get 11-15% hikes while entry and
senior management will receive 5-10% increases. "These
projections are made based on an internal survey which we did of
our members. We received responses from over 100 firms which
account for over 42 to 45% of IT revenues," she said.
--
The IT industry has instituted innovative incentive schemes to
reward performance this year. Some of these includes skill bonus,
zero attrition unit incentive and project-based incentives, she
said.
There will also be a shift in recruitment methodologies undertaken
by companies. "The estimates are we will recruit 1.80 lakh
employees this year (or a 6% increase) of which lateral hiring will
be more than last year," she said.
A back of the envelope calculation shows nearly 3 out of every 10
are lateral hires in the tech industry. "We see a shift in this. There
will be a 10% increase in lateral hires and reduced intake from
campuses," Gupta said. Referrals and recruitments through job
portals will rise.

Apple installed ‘backdoor’ iOS services for govt spying?

Apple has been accused of intentionally installing security
backdoors in some 600 million iOS devices that offer surveillance-
level access to data including photos, browsing history and GPS
locations. The vulnerabilities were uncovered by security expert
Jonathan Zdziarski, who presented an academic paper on the
subject at a hacker conference in New York last Friday.
Apple has issued a statement saying that the company's
"diagnostic functions do not compromise user privacy and
security," but Zdziarski has responded by noting that these
services "dish out data" regardless of whether the user has
agreed to diagnostics. "There is no way to disable these
mechanisms," Zdziarski said. "This makes it much harder to
believe that Apple is actually telling the truth here."
The backdoors cover a range of hidden tools and protocols that
activate with "paired" computers — machines connected to an
iPhone or iPad via USB — that the user has granted access to.

Battle of the "0" figures

Gionee launched the Elife S5.5 smartphone about recently, the
device’s name compliments its thickness. It is mere 5.5mm thick
and currently owns the crown of the slimmest smartphone in the
world. The Gionee Elife S5.5 is a device that is between the high end
and mid range smartphones, you can call it a mid high range phone.
It has a 5-inch FHD display, an Octa-Core processor and 2GB RAM.
It also got the latest KitKat update this month which makes it one of
the few mid-to-high range smartphones with that OS.
If you have the Gionee Elife S5.5 and think the device is very thin
and people cannot make a smartphone thinner than this then you
should hold your thoughts a little back. Gionee, the company who
has the cap of the world’s thinnest smartphone in the world is not
ready to lose that title just yet. iPhone 6 is rumored to be around
the thickness of 6.6mm thickness and with Gionee GN9005 the
company is all set to create new records.
Gionee GN9005 is rumored to have a thickness of 5.0mm thickness,
half a centimeter or 0.2-inch thickness, it is said that this
smartphone will be a mid range smartphone and it will have a 4.8-
inch HD display. It is likely to be powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core
processor (could be Snapdragon), 1GB RAM and 2050mAH battery.
It will be smaller and thinner than the current thinnest smartphone in
the world. So it would once again baffle smartphone manufacture
how Gionee would fit in such huge battery in a smartphone with only
5mm thickness. We are eager to get our hands on this smartphone

NOKIA X : DAYS OF THE PAST

The Nokia X phones
that Microsoft discontinued this
week blend two rival operating
systems, but leave out the best of
each.
As a result, the devices didn't
become a runaway hit as Nokia's
low-cost answer to serving
emerging markets.
Nokia X phones were devised to
be a gateway to the company's
pricier Lumia phones. The
operating system that runs the
phones was to blend the core
technology found in Google's
Android system with services and
designs found in Microsoft's own Windows Phone system.
Nokia looked to Android as a way to sell phones with locally
tailored apps unavailable on Windows.
But Microsoft completed its deal to buy Nokia's phone business
in April, and Nokia X is gone less than three months later.

CyberPower bows to Zeus God.

CyberPower has rolled out the red carpet for a new gaming
machine: the Zeusbook Edge X6, a laptop boasting long
battery life and an Intel Haswell processor under the hood.
Brags CyberPower, its new X6 is both the lightest and the
thinnest 15.6-inch gaming laptop it has made to date.

The Zeusbook Edge X6 measures in at .82-inches in thickness
with a weight of 4.75lbs and the aforementioned display size of
15.6-inches. With this comes dual fans for keeping things cool, a
Supra-Cool cooling system, and an optical drive, which isn't
terribly common in gaming machines that try to keep things
svelte.
The X6 offers an RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet port, as well as a pair of
USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, standard
mic and headphone audio jacks, mini DisplayPort, VGA, and HDMI.
Audio comes by way of Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater.
Under the hood, meanwhile, is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M
graphics card, 6GB of GDDR5 memory, and a fourth-generation
Intel Core i7 processor. As the picture shows, the keyboard has
LED backlighting; there's also a lock for the Windows Key to keep
it from interfering with gaming.
The Zeusbook Edge X6 starts at $1,399 USD.

Assemble your own phone.

Google has started taking requests for developer boards used for
the Project Ara modular phone. The board was unveiled during the
developer conference in April , and helps developers build prototypes
of modules for the handset. You can request the board by clicking
on the sourcelink below, and filling out the form. This must be done
before the clock turns to July 18th on the West Coast of the U.S. A
second group of requests can be made before August 18th.
Before you get the board, you have to agree to a number of terms
from Google. Because there is a limited number of boards, Google
wants to know precisely how you plan on using it. The boards are
necessary because developers need to make sure that their modules
work with the circuitry of the handset.
The first set of boards is expected to ship later this month. If you do
receive your dev board so soon, it means that Google likes your idea
and thinks your module has merit. By the way, the next developer
conference will be taking place in November. By then, we will know
who won the $100,000 for the first Project Ara Developer Prize
Challenge. You need to send in a 5 minute video along with the
official entry form. The entry must be in Google's hands by
September 1st while a working module must be received by
September 30th. On that date, the winner will be notified. The first
place winner receives $100,000 and the knowledge that his module
will certainly be offered to Project Ara buyers.

Mind Games.

Focus hard and you
will be able to control Google
Glass with your thoughts alone.
Yes, your power of thoughts can
give the computer eyewear
commands to do certain things,
like taking a picture and even
posting it to Facebook.
Developed by London-based
startup This Place, the open
source MindRDR app and
Neurosky EEG biosensor work
together to transmit users'
thoughts to Google Glass.
The wearable sensor and the app
analyze users' brainwaves and
gauge their level of focus.
Concentrate hard until a
horizontal white line starts to rise on Google Glass "screen."
When the level crosses a certain threshold, MindRDR tells
Google Glass to take a picture. Stay focussed and Glass will
post the photo on social media.
"It's pretty cool when you have taken a picture and shared it,
just by thinking," said Chloe Kirton, creative director of This
Place.
The technology could also be used to help those with severe
physical disabilities such as locked-in syndrome or severe
multiple sclerosis.
The new app is yet to be approved by Google Glass team.

Want Sapphire screen before others? Spend a Fortune for it.!!!

Sapphire is the new buzzword in smartphones - the material, second
only to diamond in terms of hardness, is almost impossible to
scratch, and it’s expected to make a splash if Apple releases its
iPhone 6 with a sapphire display.
But did you know that there are already phones with sapphire
displays out there? It turns out that some luxury phone makers have
used sapphire screens to set themselves apart from the competition,
and one such device is the Vertu Ti.
An Android smartphone by luxury brand Vertu, the ‘handmade in
England’ Ti costs north of $11,000 (£6,800) and offers a
combinaiton of leather, stainless steel and sapphire glass for those
swimming in pools of cash.
It’s in fact not a new phone - the Vertu Ti was released in
February 2013, but even then its features seemed sub-par: a
3.7-inch display with a resolution of just 480 x 800 pixels, a
1.7GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and all of
that running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Disappointing isn’t it?
One thing that’s not disappointing, though, is the fact that
materials previously considered luxurious like the sapphire glass are
about to become mainstream.

Intel speaks about Transformer books for students

Nowadays it's nearly a must for every student to own a
PC for school. Computers have become an essential
Learning tool - helping to complete daily
studies, projects
and of course, homework. Looking for a great computer
for school?
The new 2 in 1 PC is a smart choice.
How the 2 in 1 helps in studies
The 2 in 1 is a device that starts as a notebook but can transform
into a tablet. That means you can use it the way you want - as a
notebook for creating papers and presentations or as a tablet
that's great for web browsing and reading.
Outstanding battery life
As a student, you spend just as much time out of school as you
do in the classroom, and that makes battery life vital. Luckily, the
latest 2 in 1 models are fitted with energy-efficient Intel® 4th
Generation Core™ processors, which can help stretch battery life .1
Light enough to carry everywhere
School bags are heavy enough. A 2 in 1 is a light computer that
you can bring with you everywhere while still enjoying full
notebook performance. Even better, some models let you detach
the screen and use it as a tablet, so you can leave the keyboard in
the bag or the locker when you don't need it.
Great graphics means great multimedia
projects
If you need to create video projects for school, the 2 in 1 is just the
right tool for the job. Those Intel processors we mentioned above?
They also come packed with performance and graphics to create
awesome videos. When it comes time to show it to the teacher,
switch to tablet mode to make your presentation as slick as
possible.
Kids will Play

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy as the saying goes. A
2 in 1 prevents that ever being the case. It comes with amazing
graphics to make gaming fun and immersive (after homework of
course). You also get to enjoy all the games available on the
tablet and PC in one device.

Note 4 : Release Date, Features, Rumors, Specs And Everything You want to Know

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be unveiled at the IFA
show event in Berlin running from September 5th-10th. This hopes
to be Samsungs' best smartphone/tablet to date. They want to be
strong competition for Apple's new iPhone 6 with the Galaxy Note 4
release around the same time in late 2014 and just in time for the
holiday shopping season.
The president of Samsung said that the new Galaxy Note 4 will have
a different feel then its predecessors. The big rumor as well is that
the Galaxy Note 4 will have a display that wraps around the edges of
the screen. The Korea Times has reported that the curved-display
option of the Galaxy Note 4 may be available on a small scale
markets, but the main version of the Galaxy Note 4 will feature a flat
AMOLED display like the previous models.
The size has been growing by each generation of Galaxy Note
device. The original Note had a 5.3-inch screen, the Note 2 a 5.5-
inch screen and the Note 3 a 5.7-inch display. The Galaxy Note 4 will
hold at 5.7-inches or continue with the increase and could feature a
5.9-inch display (which would equal the HTC One Max and LG G Pro
2). The Note 4 will also a hold the qHD display or 2K pixel based
screen and is expected to feature a 2560 x 1440 QHD Super
AMOLED resolution display. The Galaxy Note 3 included a 5.7-inch
Full HD display that was 388 pixels per inch (ppi) and the Galaxy
Note 4 could feature a 5.7-inch QHD that would support a pixel
density of 515 ppi. Samsung has already produced the first flagship
tablets on the market with the WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixel) Super
AMOLED display.
Galaxy Note 3 price is around $730 in most of the countries and a
$750 for the Note 4 is what many are expecting but would not cross
$800 barrier.
The Galaxy Note 4 will feature either Samsung's new 64-bit Exynos
processor or Snapdragon 805, with a Adreno 330/430 GPU.
Samsung might make a deal with Google for the Galaxy Note 4 to
use for Android 4.5 Lollypop version. The Note 4 will use an octa-
core Exynos 5433 chip, have 4GB of RAM, and a Touchwhiz
interface.
The Galaxy Note 4 could be packed with 20.7 MP of Primary rear
Camera and 2-5 MP front facing camera. It might even be able to
shoot video underwater. This would be their best camera yet as the
Note 3 has a 13MP camera and the Galaxy S5 has a 16MP camera.
Apple's iPhone 5S already comes with fingerprint scanner, so the
new iPhone 6 will have this feature as well. Rumors suggest that
Note 4 will also integrate the use of a Fingerprint scanner feature.
Other specs for the Galaxy Note 4 could include 4G LTE
connectivity, a fingerprint scanner, wireless charging support, and
microSD card storage. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is its Stylus Pen, its
IP67 certifications which able to provide feature of Water resistant
as well as dust proof screen.

Android Wear : From your hand to your wrist.

We are living in the era of the emergence of wearing the technology. The smartness of your phone is now more ergonomic with the new Android Wear. It requires a companion smartphone running Android 4.3 or later. That covers Kit Kat and the later versions of Jelly Bean qnd the upcoming Android L, but according to Google's own stats, only about a quarter of Android devices have either. For a variety of reasons, many recent phones can't be upgraded(*Fragmentation*). And of course, no iPhones. The companion phone doesn't have to be from the same manufacturer as the watch.   Most of your interactions with the watch are by voice, similar to using Google Now on Android phones and Siri on iPhones. You can scroll through a short menu of functions, but it's primarily there as suggestions and isn't comprehensive. To activate the voice function, just tap on the watch face or say "OK, Google." You can ask the watch to set an alarm, check your calendar or send a reminder. You can't use the watch as a speakerphone for calls, the way previous Samsung smartwatches allowed. But you can make calls or answer ones that come in. The call still goes through the phone, but that's not a problem if you have a Bluetooth headset. You can send texts by dictating a message or using canned ones such as "Yes," ''No," or "On my way." You can't add your own prewritten response, the way you can on Samsung's previous watches. Android Wear also lets you send and receive emails and read Facebook notifications. If you prefer using the phone, there's a button you can tap to have the message automatically open there.    Android Wear isn't quite there yet as a must-have product, but I can only imagine what it will evolve into in the months and years ahead. It helps that there's now a unified system that software developers can focus on improving.  To check on your phone's compatibility, visit this website from your device: android.com/wear/check .
